The goal of the SDC Art Group is to expand each and every member's art horizons through a focused and supportive community of selected individuals of artists who aspire to do greater things and push their vision and art beyond what they are currently doing.

Every two months a new project and exhibit is planned. The art projects will be challenging, fun, and hopefully showing the members what new and great things they may be capable of. Creativity and exploration is the key.

This site is the staging ground from which these selected artists can showcase their project works and hopefully help to get their name out there. They will recieve valuable critique from fellow members of the art group and the Steel Dolphin Creative - Art and Graphic Design Forums.

The members will have their own private forum at the SDC Art and Graphic Design Forums where they can post current project art work for critique and discussion.

Member Selection

Final selection and approval will be made by the Director of the art group. The successful candidate will be accepted based on several factors.

The prospective candidate can be selected from various avenues – detailed below:

1. Any current member of the SDC ART GROUP can invite a prospective member. The candidate must undergo a portfolio review by the Director. The successful candidate must also be or become a registered member of the SDC Art and Graphic Design Forums. Potential members will most likely be scouted from their posts in the Finished works forums of the Digital Art and Design, Traditional Art and Photography Categories.

2. Application - Interested applicatnts may submit a link to a small portfolio of selected works to the Director. A review will take place, only successful applicants will be contacted.

Participation

It is expected that all members should actively participate in the art group projects in order to build a strong sense of unity and purpose. The project deadlines will be fair as to allow everyone sufficient time to complete them.

Benefits

Besides the furthering of your own artistic vision and abilities (this really is the most important), twice a year there will be a competition to select the best within the following two categories:

1.SDCF Art Group Award of Excellence – This award will be given to the artist with the strongest piece of work created during the six-month period. The artwork will be selected by each artist from one of three pieces they did in the six-month term. The winner will be chosen by a qualified jury of peers. The Director may not enter in any contest.

2.SDCF Art Group Most Improved Artist – This award is given to the artist that has improved or grown the most artistically during this six month term, this person will be selected by a voting process wherein the entire art group will be involved. Depending on the number of members in the art group it may be that a select group of nominees will first be chosen in order to narrow the field.

Prizes

Award winners will receive prizes for their achievements – these prizes will vary depending on available sponsorships, etc.

The Committee

The Committee exists to help the Director in various tasks in order to keep the art group running smoothly. Some of these tasks will include selection and voting on awards, and the creation of Project Themes. The committee members will sit these postions on a rotational basis so as to allow everyone the opportunity to vote, etc.
